Self-Onboard Meta Cloud API
Follow this step-by-step manual to link your Facebook Business profile directly to Meta Cloud API to enjoy the lowest messaging costs.
Register on Meta Developers Portal
Go to the official Meta for Developers site . Click My Apps → Create App. Select the Use Case as Other and choose type as Business. Give your app a name and associate it with your Facebook Business Manager Account.
Add WhatsApp Product to App
Scroll down the App Dashboard, locate the **WhatsApp** product, and click **Set Up**. Meta will generate a temporary access token, test phone number ID, and test WABA account ID for you. Use these to test initial message APIs before submitting documents.
Generate Permanent Access Token
Temporary tokens expire in 24 hours. To generate a **Permanent Access Token**, navigate to your **Meta Business Suite Settings** → **Users** → **System Users**. Add a system user, generate a token, and assign permissions for: whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management. Copy and save this token safely.
Ingest Credentials into Watneo
Sign in to your Watneo dashboard, complete document reviews, and navigate to **Settings** → **WABA Configurations**. Enter your details:
- Business Account ID (WABA ID)
- Phone Number ID
- Permanent Access Token
- Choose a Webhook Verify Token (e.g.
WatneoVerifyKey123!)
Configure Webhook Callback URL
Under Meta App Settings → **WhatsApp** → **Configuration**, set your callback webhook endpoint to:
Enter the exact Webhook Verify Token chosen in Step 4. Subscribe to the webhook fields: messages and template_status. Meta will now send status updates (Sent, Delivered, Read) and incoming customer responses directly into your team inbox in real-time.
